Florentia is creating new automation to help humans flourish
What we are doing
We believe factory automation has untapped potential to make life better for people. That is why we are building machines: to redefine how the most important products in our lives are made.
Our first focus is residential construction: the United States has a skilled-labor shortage of hundreds of thousands of workers and a housing shortage of millions of units; home prices are too high, and construction wages are too low. At the same time, architectural beauty and quality fall far short of ideal.
Factory automation can be an important part of the solution to all these problems—and that’s what we’re working on!
Why Florentia
Florentia, the original Latin name for Florence Italy, translates to 'flourishing city' or 'city of flowers.' Founded in 59 BC at a crossroads between Rome and Northern Italy, Florentia’s strategic location helped it to grow into a place of immense beauty and influence. Eventually, this flourishing outpost became the cradle of the Renaissance, changing the world forever.
We named our company Florentia to remind us of ideas at the heart of our purpose:
Human Flourishing: Our company exists to make life better for human beings—customers and employees.
Beauty: We are inspired by the image of a beautiful city of flowers and we develop manufacturing capabilities that increase the beauty in the world.
Strategy: Just like Florentia’s strategically-chosen position enabled it to thrive, strategy is essential to our business. Our machines, our culture, our fundraising, and more are aligned to pursue and protect our vision.
Rebirth: The Renaissance gave the world new ideas and new technology. We believe new ideas and technologies are needed today. Our machines are designed to enable healthier relationships between customers, employees, and companies.
About our logo
For a thousand years a red iris has been at the center of Florence’s flag and coat of arms, symbolizing beauty and flourishing. Our logo—our own version of that flower—inspires those same ideals in us.
